Sales Professional, Ray White Aspley
Ron brings to Ray White Aspley a lively personality and 25 years experience in business, having owned and operated Payne’s Fruit Centre together with his dad Colin. But like all good things the time came for a change of guard and an opportunity to pursue a career without such an early start in the morning!
Born in Zillmere, Ron remembers well the early days when most of the area was still farmland and with horses, cows and chickens numbering more than the number of houses out here. It was a great childhood with many fond memories of playing in the farmlands with the other local kids and riding horses where now the QUT Carseldine campus stands.
Having completed his schooling in Aspley, Ron joined the banking sector and took a job with the bank of New South Wales which allowed him to do what he does best – talk to people with an ever present smile and laughter in his voice.
However, it didn’t take Ron long to realise that the world of formal banking was not where his long term interests lay and an opportunity to join his Dad Colin in the fruit business gave him a good reason to change direction after a few years and he never looked back.
Happiest when he was talking to clients and helping them with their daily groceries, Ron considers himself fortunate to have had a job which he can truly say, there was never a day in which he didn’t look forward to coming to work, knowing full well that he was to meet anything up to 100 locals, all of whom had been clients of the business for many years and with whom he had built great relationships.
Personal service and a commitment to deliver what he promised is what Ron and his Dad Colin always believed in and what brought customers back to the shop year after year and it is this same quality that Ron now brings to his real estate dealings.
In his spare time he loves a game of squash and has been a long time member of the Aspley Squash Club and played in the social league and continues to give a couple of the youngsters a whipping despite his age!
Having encountered a number of clients and friends who over the years had been touched by cancer, Ron has been an active campaigner for Breast Cancer Foundation and recently held an annual fundraising breakfast where he raised $14,500.
